A 30-year-old South River man, severely injured when the car he was driving was struck by a truck, will received a structured settlement with a present value of $1.2 million. The injured plaintiff could collect up to $2.9 million, depending on how long he lives. The settlement was approved by a Middlesex County judge. The plaintiff’s attorney, John Keefe Jr., says the client suffered head injuries, facial cuts and a broken leg in the accident, which occurred in Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey. He was left with severe injuries affecting his ability to work. Keefe says a key issue in the settlement talks with the insurance company for the truck that was in the automobile accident was that the injured plaintiff wasn’t wearing his seat belt at the time of the auto crash. The truck crossed the double yellow line on the roadway causing the automobile collision.
