    In June of 2012, Stryker initiated a voluntary recall of its Rejuvenate and ABG II modular-neck hip stems due to the potential for fretting and corrosion at the modular-neck junction. This defect can result in various adverse local tissue reactions, as well as pain, swelling, limitation on range of motion, and premature device failure. This device has been implanted in thousands of patients throughout the United States since it was first cleared for sale in 2008.
